The Gilchrist County School System is committed to providing an education for the whole child. It is our philosophy to provide all students with educational opportunities that will enable them to develop into continuing learners and desirable citizens. The Dropout Prevention programs are designed to help students to:

1. Increase interest in school and achieve a level of success which will create in students a desire for the education that they so desperately need.

2. Attempt to reach students who are planning to drop out of school and provide them with some type of educational alternatives.

3. Assist those students who have already dropped out of school in furthering their education or career possibilities for a more successful life.

It is believed that in order to solve the problem of student dropouts, each of the above-mentioned parts will play a vital role in helping to implement a solution. Every student must be considered as an individual who will need individual strategies in order to meet his needs.

The Dropout Prevention programs in Gilchrist County offer a middle school program that enables students who are behind peers to advance a grade level and the high school program offers students who are behind peers an opportunity to graduate with their peers.
